Beeswax – the natural wax produced in the beehive of honey bees is a common ingredient for many of the cosmetics women use everyday. However, its uses go far beyond that. Here are 7 cool and unusual uses for beeswax you may not know about.
1. Condition a Wood Cutting Board
Microwave together 1/2 tsp beeswax and 1 cup mineral oil until wax melts. Apply solution to surface of cutting board with soft cloth.
2. General Lubricant for Home Uses
Use beeswax to unstick drawers and loosen rusted nuts by lubricating the bolt’s threads.

Rub the beeswax over the entire shoe. Next, use a hair dryer to melt the wax all over the shoe then let set for about 5-10 minutes before wearing!
4. Preserve Bronze
Melt 1/3 lb beeswax and mix with 1 quart turpentine. Brush solution on metal/bronze, then rub with cloth. This will create a thin protective coating.
5. Polish Concrete Counters
Rub melted beeswax over surface with a chamois cloth. Let it dry, then wipe.
6. Prevent Rust On Tools
Add a thin coat to hand tools, shovels to prevent rust from forming.
7. Beeswax Cast-Iron Seasoning
Use a a bar of beeswax to season cast-iron cookware and preserve the finish. Heat your cast-iron pan and melt some beeswax to make a pool of liquid. Remove the excess wax with a paper towel. Transfer the pan to the oven and bake for one hour at 475F. Turn off the oven and allow the pan to cool.
